The Troop C Weekend Blotter: 80-year-old Accused of Throwing Clock in Toilet During Assault

TOLLAND, CT —Here are the major incidents recorded in the incident log book at the Troop C state police barracks:

Dec. 2

TOLLAND, CT — State police said a vehicle was cut off by another at 1:15 p.m. on Interstate-84 eastbound near exit 67 and wound up hitting a pole.

The only information state police have is that the culprit was driving a black sport utility vehicle.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash can call state police at 860-896-3200.

MANSFIELD, CT —An 80-year-woman was charged with disorderly conduct and third-degree assault for a Nov. 11 incident on South Eagleville Road, state police said.

Francine Leffler was arrested on a warrant for the incident at a multi-family residence, state police said. She is accused of standing over a longtime friend while the friend was in bed and throwing punches, according to a warrant.

She also threw the friend's alarm clock, which she claimed consistently woke her up, and tossed it into a toilet, according to a warrant.

Dec. 4

VERNON, CT —A car careened off the pavement on the Exit 67 eastbound off-ramp, hit a sign and came to rest down an embankment at 3:25 a.m., state police said.

No injuries were reported, but the 33-year-old driver, was cited for an insurance violation, state police said.

MANSFIELD, CT — State police said they pulled over a 22-year-old from West Hartford after seeing her repeatedly swerve on North Frontage Road and even leave the roadway.

Danielle Fountain was charged with driving under the influence and a lane violation at about 3 p.m., state police said.

VERNON, CT — A 37-year-old man from New Britain was charged with reckless driving at 2:31 a.m. on I-84 westbound near Exit 67, state police said.

Jesus Baez surpassed 85 mph, state police said.
