Troopers Say Not So Fast When Speeding DUI Suspect Calls 911

MANSFIELD, CT — A driver state police aid was drunk and belligerent wound up calling 911 to report a false arrest that turned out to be very real, state police said.

At 12:01 a.m. Saturday, a trooper was heading south on Storrs Road and clocked silver Ford Focus at between 72 and 74 mph in a posted 45 mph zone, according to an arrest report.

The car was being driven by a 28-year-old Hebron man, according to an arrest report. The vehicle was stopped and the driver failed sobriety tests after showing signs of being drunk, according to an arrest report.

As he was being taken into custody, the driver became agitated, state police said. He took out his cell phone, called 911 and asked for additional police to come to the scene because he was being falsely arrested, according to an arrest report.

It turned out to be a bad move on the driver's part. He was charged with traveling unreasonably fast, driving under the influence, interfering with police and misuse of the 911 system.
