UConn Alumnus Signed By Minnesota Twins
The Berlin High School graduate and former UConn captain will report to Single-A Cedar Rapids of the Midwest League.

NEW BRITAIN, CT — Berlin High School graduate Anthony Marzi, the leading winner this season for the New Britain Bees, has had his contract purchased by the Minnesota Twins organization.
In 12 starts this season for the Bees, members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, Marzi posted five victories and compiled a 2.84 earned run average, sixth best in the league. He twirled the league's only complete game shutout against York on June 14, and recorded his 100th career strikeout in his fial appearance with the club.
He will report to Single-A Cedar Rapids of the Midwest League.

“We are very excited for Anthony,” said Bees Manager Stan Cliburn. “He has worked very hard, and certainly deserves this opportunity. We wish him the very best with the Twins organization.”
Marzi joined the Bees prior to the 2016 season on a try-out, making the team out of spring training as a relief pitcher. During the 2016 season, he made his first career start and registered a 23.1 scoreless inning streak, the longest in Bees history.

This will be the second stint in affiliated baseball for Marzi, who signed with the New York Yankees in 2015 and appeared in six games for the Gulf Coast Yankees. The former UConn baseball captain departs New Britain with a career 10-6 record, a 2.94 ERA and 95 strikeouts in 147 innings pitched for the Bees.
In a corresponding roster move, RHP Eric Fornataro has been activated from the disabled list.
