UConn Field Hockey Star Arrested on Campus
A decorated UConn field hockey star was arrested for a theft on campus, according to police records.

STORRS, CT — A star player on the University of Connecticut field hockey team who is not only the Huskies' all-time leading scorer but the recent winner of a major national award has been arrested for a minor theft, according to police records and confirmed by school officials.
Neither the UConn athletic department nor the university administration is commenting on Sunday's larceny charge against Charlotte Veitner. Police records show the incident was at the campus bookstore and involved makeup valued at $34.
The 22-year-old and Dusseldorf, Germany, native has a court date of Feb. 14 in Rockville, records show.

UConn won its fifth national championship in the fall and went 23-0.
In December, Veitner was chosen for the Honda Sport Award for Field Hockey by the Collegiate Women Sports Awards. The Honda Sport Award has been presented annually by the CWSA for the past 42 years to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports.

Veitner is a three-time First-Team All-American and was honored as the NCAA Field Hockey Division I Championships Most Valuable Player following a six-point performance (3 goals) during the Final Four.
She was the 2017 Big East Offensive Player of the Year and led the nation in points per game (3.64) and goals per game (1.55), while leading UConn in in points (80) and goals (34) for the fourth-straight year.
In the fall season, she became the first Husky and just the 12th player in Division I to eclipse the 100-goal plateau. With 120 goals in 92 career games, Veitner is fifth overall on the NCAA Field Hockey Division I all-time scoring list.
Veitner is atop UConn record book in points (299) and assists (63).
