UConn Field Hockey Team Vaults to No. 1 National Ranking
The Huskies hold the top spot in the latest national field hockey poll.

STORRS, CT — A 5-0 start — including four wins over top-20 teams — has landed the University of Connecticut field hockey the No.1 ranking in this week's Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I Poll.
Following a loss by No. 1 Duke (4-1), UConn, which was No. 2, took the top spot with 1,129 points and 28 first-place votes.
UConn is one of four undefeated teams in D-I and is outscoring its opponents 20-4 so far in 2017.

Head Coach Nancy Stevens has now led the Huskies to its fourth No. 1 ranking since taking over at the helm. Stevens and UConn last held the distinction in 2016, after a 9-0 start to the season.
Penn State (5-0) and Syracuse (7-0) held the second and third spots, respectively, after a pair of wins to extend their perfect marks this fall. The Nittany Lions received 1,083 points and 13 first-place votes, while Syracuse garnered 1,024 points with three first-place votes.

Duke fell four sports to No. 4, while Virginia (5-1) rose five spots to No. 5 after knocking off the Blue Devils, 4-1, last week.
