UConn is hiring culinary workers at a job fair Wednesday.

STORRS, CT — The University of Connecticut is inviting chefs, kitchen assistants and others interested in joining its dining services program to attend an on-campus career fair Wednesday.
The hiring event comes as UConn plans to open a 500-seat dining hall next month at Connecticut Hall, a dorm being built just west of Mirror Lake. It will be among eight dining halls at Storrs along with cafes, food trucks, the Dairy Bar, bakeries, and other UConn Dining Services facilities.
The career fair runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday in Buckley Dining Hall, 1276 Storrs Road, on the UConn Storrs campus. Members of the media are welcome to cover the event.

UConn Dining is among the nation’s largest self-operated food service programs and is an auxiliary function of the university, supporting its costs like a business through revenue received from student dining plans, retail operations, and related endeavors., officials said.
It also offers opportunities for career progression, with its executive director and many others having started as student workers or in entry-level roles and advancing within the organization, officials said.
