UConn President: Edsall Hiring a 'Rational' Move

Randy Edsall was formally introduced for his second stint as UConn's football coach Friday.

EAST HARTFORD/STORRS, CT — University of Connecticut President Susan Herbst on Friday called bringing back Randy Edsall as head football coach was the "best thing to do."

She called the process "very rational."

Edsall was formally introduced for his second stint at UConn's Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field Friday.

He was re-hired on Wednesday after Bob Diaco was relieved of his coaching duties two days after Christmas. See the details of his contract here.

Edsall left UConn for the University of Maryland immediately following the 2011 Fiesta Bowl. He went 74-40 from the 1999 through 2010 seasons.
