UConn Student Rec Center Budget Holding Steady at $100 Million

STORRS, CT — The budget is holding steady at $100 million for the proposed new student recreation facility at the University of Connecticut.

A budget update through the design phase was presented at last week's UConn Board of Trustees meeting.

The projected start of construction is in April with the new rec center opening in July 2019, according to a project overview.

The facility is replacing the aging Connecticut Commons residence facilities across from the UCoonn bookstore and Gampel Pavilion.

They are are more than four decades old.

The new rec center will measure about 200,000 square feet of on three floors.
