UConn Taking Nominations for Prestigious Dodd Prize
Past winners of UConn's Thomas J. Dodd Prize in International Justice and Human Rights include Bill Clinton and Tony Blair.

STORRS, CT — Letters of nomination for the Thomas J. Dodd Prize in International Justice and Human Rights are now being accepted. The Prize is awarded biennially by the University of Connecticut and is presented to an individual or group who has had significant impact advancing the cause of international justice and global human rights.
The Dodd Prize commemorates the distinguished career in public service of Thomas J. Dodd who, as Executive Trial Counsel to the International Military Tribunal at Nuremberg and a Connecticut Senator from 1959 to 1971, fought against the "violation of human rights in the United States and around the world."
The Dodd Prize will be awarded during the fall of 2019 at the University of Connecticut.

Dodd Prize recipients are honored at an awards ceremony and make a public presentation to the
university community and members of the general public. The award recipient receives a
monetary prize of $100,000 and a commemorative bronze bust of Senator Thomas J. Dodd.
Previous recipients include Bertie Ahern and Tony Blair in 2003; Louise Arbour and Richard
Goldstone in 2005; The Center for Justice & Accountability and Mental Disability Rights
International in 2007; The Committee to Protect Journalists in 2009; the Center for Justice and
International Law in 2011; the Business & Human Rights Resource Center in 2013; President
Bill Clinton and Tostan in 2015; and Physicians for Human Rights in 2017.

Those eligible for the Dodd Prize are individuals or groups who have "furthered the
cause of international human rights and justice over an extended period of time."

Nomination letters for the 2019 Thomas J. Dodd Prize in International Justice and Human Rights
will be accepted through Oct. 1. Full applications from selected finalists will be due by Dec. 3.
