UConn To Test Its Emergency Alert System Tuesday

STORRS, CT — The University of Connecticut is scheduled to test its emergency notification and alert system on Tuesday.

The system is called UConnALERT and the test will commence on at 12:25 p.m. on all campuses, school officials said.

The test involves multiple messaging platforms. A notice will be posted on the UConn Alert website (alert.uconn.edu); an email will be sent to all students, faculty, and staff; and posts will appear on the University’s Facebook and X (formerly known as Twitter) accounts, officials said.

Cell phone numbers registered with the UConnALERT system will receive text messages.

At UConn's main campus in Storrs, outdoor sirens will be tested with an "audible tone," officials said.

This test includes emergency notifications at UConn Health in addition to Storrs and the regional campuses.

Official said that, in an actual emergency, information would be updated regularly through the UConn Alert website at alert.uconn.edu.

"Students, faculty, and staff should visit this site to register for cell phone text alerts, update their contact information, and obtain information related to emergency procedures and campus safety," officials said.
