In presenting the tuition plan, university officials maintained that the majority of UConn students do not pay full fare. Financial aid will also increase over the next five years, they added.
In his inaugural presentation in October, Katsouleas announced a program to enable students whose families have an annual income of $50,000 or less to attend UConn tuition-free starting in the fall of 2020. The program will be limited to entering freshmen and transfer students.
