UConn Water Pipeline Project Mostly Completed

The system taps into the Shenipsit Lake Reservoir

STORRS, CT — Connecticut Water Company announced this week that it has completed the installation of the water pipeline on Route 195 in Tolland and Mansfield that will serve Mansfield and the University of Connecticut.

The pipeline runs from the Shenipsit Lake Reservoir on the Tolland-Vernon line along Route 195 to the water towers on the UConn campus.

Next week, there may be occasional lane closures as crews put the final layer onto the trench excavated for the water main installations, utility officials said.

Crews will also be working on some off-road restoration in the next few weeks that should not affect traffic, Connecticut Water officials said.

No traffic patters will be altered after Labor Day, utility official said.

Crews will be testing the pipe, operating valves, and performing other tasks required before the pipe can supply potable water, utility official said without offering a firm date for the system going online.
