UConn Women's Opponents Announced For Jimmy V, Cayman Islands Games
UConn is 10-3 all-time in the Jimmy V event.

STORRS, CT — The University of Connecticut women's basketball team will be trying for its 11th win in the Jimmy V Classic against a team it has never lost to. The Huskies have also found out who they will be playing in the Cayman Islands.
UConn is slated to face Texas in the 2023 Jimmy V Women’s Classic on Dec. 3. The matchup was announced Tuesday by ESPN Events. The game will air on ABC at 3 p.m. from Austin, Texas.
The game with the Longhorns will mark UConn's 14th Jimmy V appearance. UConn is 10-0 all-time vs. Texas. UConn’s game at Notre Dame last season was the first-ever Jimmy V Classic game to air on ABC. UConn is 10-3 all-time in the Jimmy V event.

The Jimmy V Classic, named for legendary college basketball coach Jim Valvano – who was inducted in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in August, annually raises money and awareness for the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
The women's event debuted in 2002, while the men’s classic began in 1995.

Both events are part of ESPN’s V Week initiative, which utilizes platforms to talk to sports fans about the importance of cancer research. To date, ESPN has helped raise nearly $200 million dollars for the V Foundation. In 2022, V Week helped raise a record $14.4 million dollars, which was a 32 percent increase over 2020 fundraising.
UConn will face UCLA and Kansas in the inaugural Cayman Islands Classic women's college basketball tournament this November.
UConn will face the Bruins on Nov. 24 at 7:30 p.m. The Huskies will take on the Jayhawks on Nov. 25 at 7:30 p.m.
The games will be played at John Gray Gymnasium and will stream on FloHoops.
The tournament also includes LSU, Virginia Tech, Niagara, Tulane and Virginia.
