UConn's Dailey Gets Women's Hall of Fame Honor

STORRS, CT —UConn Women’s Basketball Associate Head Coach Chris Dailey has been named a Women’s Basketball Hall of Famer, school officials said Monday night.

During halftime of Monday’s nationally-televised game in Gampel Pavilion against Louisville, Dailey was one of seven iconic personalities selected for induction into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2018.
The Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2018 honorees will be enshrined on June 9, in Knoxville, TN.

Dailey becomes the fifth member of the UConn Women’s basketball program to join the list of inductees to the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame. Head Coach Geno Auriemma was inducted in 2006. Rebecca Lobo was inducted in 2010, Jennifer Rizzotti was named in in 2013, and Kara Wolters was enshrined in 2017,

Dailey is in her 33rd year on the UConn Women’s basketball staff, having come to Storrs with Auriemma in the spring of 1985.

Auriemma and Dailey have combined to lead UConn to a record 11 NCAA National Championships (1995, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016).

Entering the Louisville game on Monday, the overall 33-year record at UConn for the Auriemma/Dailey combination is 1,015-135.

UConn has won four of the past five NCAA titles and the Huskies overall record during the past six seasons (since the 2012-13 season) is 211-6.

“From the start, it’s been more about partners, two people starting a business and they each have an equal stake in it,” Auriemma said. “We used her strengths and mine and put them together to build this thing from a mom-and-pop operation into what it is today.”
