BUCARAMANGA, Colombia – UConn women's basketball freshman Sarah Strong helped the United States win the 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup gold medal as Team USA beat Canada, 80-69, Sunday night.

Strong averaged 7.2 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.2 steals per game in the tournament.

The No. 1-ranked recruit in the 2024 freshman class, Strong is now a three-time U.S. gold medalist. She also won gold at the 2022 and 2023 FIBA 3-on-3 U18 World Cup.

The gold medal is the USA’s 11th consecutive dating back to 2000. The United States is now 71-2 in U18 women’s competition.
