• State police arrest two in Marlborough animal cruelty investigation (nbcconnecticut.com) — A state police investigation at a Saner Road property in Marlborough uncovered several dead dogs and surviving dogs living in filthy, unsafe conditions, leading to animal cruelty charges against two people. Troopers seized multiple pit bulls and puppies, and advocates say removing the dead dogs from the scene raises serious concerns about destroyed evidence. Both suspects are free on bond and due in court October 2.
• Canine dies during house fire in Hebron (thechronicle.com) — Marlborough Volunteer Fire Department crews were among several regional departments that rushed to a Saturday night house fire in Hebron, where a home was destroyed and a dog died but no people were hurt. Firefighters, paramedics, and utilities worked together to control the blaze and secure the scene, which was declared uninhabitable while investigators look for the cause.
