Police said a “large amount of waste consisting of old furniture and numerous other bulky items” were found dumped in the cul-de-sac on Corporate Drive on Sept. 9.

“As a result, city workers were forced to clean up this mess and care for the disposal of the large amount of trash which was illegally dumped,” police wrote. “Since that date, Sergeant Matthew Hartline has been diligently investigating this matter in an attempt to identify the responsible parties.”

The suspects were identified as 23-year-old Adam Troski of Wallingford and 30-year-old Nathan Silva of East Haven, according to police.

Police said that since the amount of bulky waste dumped exceeded more than 1 cubic feet, both men were issued infractions for illegal dumping, which carries a $219 fine.

“Sergeant Hartline did an exceptional job in this investigation and this type of behavior will not be tolerated here in Meriden,” police wrote. “Although we here at the police department realize that it is often times inconvenient trying to find an appropriate place to dispose of household items, this type of behavior will not be tolerated and any future incidents such as this will be thoroughly investigated and the responsible person or persons will be held accountable for their actions.”
