2 Juveniles Arrested In Theft Of Vehicle: Meriden Police

One of the juveniles entered an open garage and stole the homeowner's vehicle, according to police.

MERIDEN, CT — Two juveniles were arrested in connection with the theft of a vehicle Monday in Meriden, according to police.

Police responded to a home on the east side of the city on the report of a stolen vehicle. Police determined that a male had entered an open garage at the home and stole the homeowner’s vehicle, according to officials.

Members of the Crime Suppression Unit soon found the vehicle, which was parked and unoccupied, according to police.

Police then saw two males walking toward the vehicle. Police approached the males as they were entering the stolen vehicle and both ran away in different directions, police said.

Both males were apprehended after a short foot chase, according to police. They were identified as juveniles and taken to police headquarters, police said.

One juvenile was charged with interfering with police and first-degree larceny, while the other was charged with interfering with police, first-degree larceny and third-degree burglary.

“Due to these charges not meeting the criteria for a serious juvenile offense, both juveniles were issued a court date and released to their parents,” police wrote in a news release.
