2 Juveniles Charged In Vehicle Theft From Liquor Store: Meriden Police

The victim's phone was in the stolen vehicle and pinged to an area where the suspects were found and eventually apprehend, police said.

MERIDEN, CT — Two juveniles have been arrested in connection with the theft of a motor vehicle from a liquor store in Meriden on Saturday, according to police.

Police responded to Uptown Liquors around 9 p.m. on Jan. 27 on the report of a motor vehicle theft.

The victim told police that his phone was in the vehicle and pinging to an address on Cambridge Street, according to police.

“Officers converged into the area at which time the vehicle took off toward the dead end of Cambridge Street,” police wrote in a news release. “Officers waited until the vehicle turned around and came back toward them at which time stop sticks were successfully deployed. Two suspects then jumped out of the vehicle on Breckenridge Avenue and fled on foot.

“A perimeter was set up and a K9 track was initiated. The two suspects were then observed running on the property of Tuxis Ohr's Oil Company and were apprehended. Both suspects were juveniles and one had an active Take into Custody Order from a previous stolen motor vehicle arrest.”

Both juveniles were taken to a juvenile detention facility, according to police.
