3 Arrested During Raid At Café Property In Meriden: Police

Police said the property has been connected with several assaults, shootings, stabbings, and a murder in recent years.

MERIDEN, CT — Three people were arrested after authorities executed a search warrant at a property in Meriden early Saturday morning, according to police.

The search warrant was executed at the Mr. Bentley’s Café property at 190 Grove St. to recover evidence from a recent assault that occurred there, according to Lt. Darrin McKay.

“In recent years there have been a number of assaults, shootings, stabbings, and a murder that have occurred in connection with this address,” McKay wrote in a news release. “Many of these issues have arisen as a result of an after-hours event that occurs on the second floor of 190 Grove St.”

“We were also assisted by the Connecticut State Police,” McKay wrote. “During the service of the search warrant the Meriden Police Department discovered evidence of alcohol sales. Several other items of evidence were seized from 190 Grove St.”

During a search of the second floor, McKay said police also found a gun that was hidden in the couch.

Raphael Jacobs, 41, was arrested in connection with the gun. Jacobs is a convicted felon and was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, according to McKay. He was released after posting a $500,000 bond with a court date of July 29.

McKay said more arrests are expected in connection with the investigation.
