3rd Arrest Made In Meriden Street Takeover: Police
Jarid Weymer is accused of jumping on the hood of a Meriden police cruiser in a street takeover incident last month.

MERIDEN, CT — A third man was arrested in connection with a street takeover incident in Meriden last month.
Jarid Weymer was charged first-degree riot, first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree breach of peace, interfering with police, unlawful assembly, and first-degree criminal trespassing. Weymer also has an active warrant for his arrest in connection with a similar incident in a nearby town, according to police.
Weymer is accused of being captured on video jumping on the hood of a Meriden police cruiser. He was held on $250,000 bond.

Police said the incident happened at 10:59 p.m. May 6 in the Lowe's Outlet Store parking lot at 1201 East Main St. in Meriden.
Police received calls regarding a large contingent of cars and people in the parking lot. The incident involved cars racing, squealing tires, people using loudspeakers, and setting off fireworks, according to police.

A man stepped in front of the police cruiser that arrived at the scene and called the crowd over. The crowd surrounded the police cruiser, and several people climbed on top of the cruiser and jumped up and down.
Numerous people were "seen and heard on the cruiser dash camera screaming obscenities, displaying the middle finger, recording the Officer, provoking fellow rioters, making obscene sexual gestures, among other crude and tumultuous activities," according to a police statement.
The officer was forced to back up from the area as the crowd continued advancing.
The crowd caused $1,800 worth of damage to the police cruiser, according to police.
Police made two arrests in the case May 25. Tatianna Ortiz, 18, and Shawn Mills, 22, were charged with first-degree riot, first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree breach of peace, interfering with police, unlawful assembly, and first-degree criminal trespassing.
The investigation is ongoing.
