81-Unit Meriden Housing Development In The Works

A large mixed-income housing development took a step forward with an investor pledging $16.7 million.

MERIDEN, CT - An 81-unit mixed-income housing development is shaping up, with $16.7 million in loans pledged by Webster Bank, The Hartford Business Journal reported. The development will be at the site of a former newspaper building at 11 Crown st.

The remainder of the funding will come from various federal tax credits and loans. The development, which is expected to begin construction this spring, will include 64 units marked as "affordable" along with 17 market-rate units.
