MERIDEN, CT — An 18-year-old man is accused of stabbing another man several times during a fight at a bar in Meriden last August, according to police.

Police responded around 1:20 a.m. on Aug. 31 to MidState Medical Center after a man arrived with serious stab wounds, according to Lt. Darrin McKay.

McKay said the responding officers determined the stabbing occurred around the El Imperio Disk Bar in the 100 block of Springdale Avenue in Meriden. Officers responded to the area of the bar and saw “evidence of a crime scene” in the roadway and on the sidewalk, according to McKay.

Following an investigation, McKay said detectives determined that several physical altercations occurred both inside the El Imperio Disk Bar and just outside the bar.

One of the fights involved the male stab victim and 18-year-old Cristofer Isreal Vasquez-Lequi, who is accused of stabbing the victim several times, according to McKay.

McKay said an arrest warrant was obtained for Vasquez-Lequi after a lengthy investigation and in collaboration with the State’s Attorney’s Office in New Haven. Vasquez-Lequi turned himself in at Meriden Police Headquarters on May 19.

Vasquez-Lequi was charged with first-degree assault. He was held in lieu of a $250,00 bond.
