MERIDEN, CT — Seven men and one woman have been arrested in connection with a prostitution enforcement operation in Meriden, according to police.
Police said the detective division conducted the street-level prostitution enforcement operation in May and June throughout the downtown area of Meriden.
An 86-year-old man was charged with soliciting sexual acts.
A 65-year-old man was charged with soliciting sexual acts.
A 51-year-old man was charged with soliciting sexual acts.
A 59-year-old man was charged with soliciting sexual acts, insufficient insurance, and operating under suspension.
A 63-year-old man was charged with soliciting sexual acts.
A 42-year-old man was charged with soliciting sexual acts.
A 40-year-old man was charged with soliciting sexual acts.
A 34-year-old woman was charged with prostitution.
“The Meriden Police Department remains committed to maintaining the safety, quality of life, and well-being of the community,” police wrote in a news release. “The Department will not tolerate prostitution or other criminal activity that negatively impacts the City’s neighborhoods and businesses. Through proactive enforcement efforts and ongoing investigations, the Meriden Police Department will continue to identify, investigate, and hold accountable those who engage in unlawful conduct. The Department remains dedicated to protecting the community and preserving public safety for all residents and visitors.”
