MERIDEN, CT — A man is accused of stalking of a woman and exposing himself to her over the weekend in Meriden, according to police.

Police said she crossed the road several times to get away from Cabral, but he continued to follow her.

When she looked back at him, police said he would try to hide behind trees or cars.

While on Cross Street, Cabral is accused of dropping his pants and engaging in a lewd act as he called the woman over to him, according to police.

Police said the victim ran to her work to be safe.

“She was scared that she wasn’t in a group setting and feared what may occur next,” police wrote in the news release.

Cabral was found at the transit center on State Street and detained, according to police.

He said that he had just arrived from Middletown by bus, according to police. The victim positively identified him, and he was taken into custody, police said.

Police said Cabral was found in possession of a plastic bag with a rocklike substance that tested positive for the presence of crack cocaine.

Cabral, of Meriden, was arrested on charges of second-degree stalking, second-degree breach of peace, and possession of a controlled substance. He was held in lieu of a $35,000 bond.
