MERIDEN, CT — A traffic shift to the new alignment on I-91 North in Meriden will result in the permanent closure of Exit 17 starting next week, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
The DOT has announced a traffic shift onto the new alignment for the I-91 northbound to Route 15 northbound at Exit 16 and permanent closure of the I-91 northbound at Exit 17 starting on Thursday, July 16, weather permitting.
The new alignment of Exit 16 will provide a “two-lane exit ramp with a left-side traffic merge onto Route 15 northbound and right-side exit to East Main Street in Meriden,” according to an advisory.
“Since it may take a while for the GPS guidance systems to catch up with the new alignment, after the traffic shift, I-91 Northbound travelers heading to Route 15 northbound and I-691 westbound should take Exit 16 and disregard GPS guidance to Exit 17,” officials wrote in the advisory.
