Man Charged In Armed Robbery In Meriden: Police

MERIDEN, CT — A man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery in Meriden last month, according to police.

Police said the robbery with a gun took place on June 17 on Pratt Street in Meriden.

The suspect was identified as 23-year-old Justice Roman, according to police.

Roman was apprehended by the Waterbury Police Department on June 24 in Waterbury.

Waterbury police said Roman was taken into custody after trying to flee from a traffic stop and striking a police cruiser.

During the investigation, police said the following items were seized: ammunition, AM M15 (rifle), Glock G19 9mm, drug paraphernalia, and 38.6 grams of cocaine.

Roman was served with the Meriden arrest warrant on July 1. He was charged with first-degree robbery. He was being held in lieu of a $500,000 bond with a court date of July 15, according to state judicial records.

Roman also had a re-arrest warrant for first-degree failure to appear with a $300,000 bond, according to Meriden Police Lt. Darrin McKay.

During the incident that he failed to appear on, McKay said Roman was charged with first-degree assault in a shooting case.

“Justice is a convicted felon making him ineligible to possess a firearm,” McKay wrote in an email. “Justice Roman is also a suspected of being involved in active firearms related incidents. It is our belief that Roman's apprehension by the Waterbury Police Department and this subsequent warrant service will help keep our community safer.”
