โข Long-Term Lane Closure Announced For Bridge Reconstruction Project In Meriden (patch.com) โ Drivers in Meriden should prepare for two years of alternating one-way traffic on the Murdock Avenue Bridge over I-91 as a full bridge replacement project begins next week. A temporary signal will control traffic starting August 27, with both day and night construction likely to generate noise while crews demolish and rebuild the bridge structure.

โข Popular trail in Meriden getting new elevated boardwalk at Giuffrida Park (nbcconnecticut.com) โ Hikers in Meriden will soon get a smoother, drier route along the Mattabesett Trail at Giuffrida Park, where an elevated boardwalk is being built by the city, CFPA, and Suzio Quarry. Volunteers are donating time and materials to replace a muddy, waterlogged stretch, and the new boardwalk is expected to open by the end of the month. Residents can also sign up with CFPA to help maintain local trails.

โข Meriden school works to build sense of belonging year-round (wfsb.com) โ Maloney High School in Meriden is keeping students connected year-round with summer band camp, a bridge program for freshmen, and a college prep academy that even brings back alumni to mentor teens. Staff say these efforts, plus basics like a food pantry and clothing closet, are helping students feel they belong and contributing to Meriden's highest-ever graduation rates. Incoming freshmen describe feeling welcomed and more confident about starting school.
