Volunteer opportunities at MidState Medical Center

Make a New Year’s Resolution that will make a difference in someone’s life as well as your own!  If you have a few hours a week to spare, MidState Medical Center has a wide variety of volunteer opportunities for you.

We are currently in the process of developing an extensive Palliative Care program for our patients, their families and members of our community. Volunteers will support this program in many ways. Bereavement Volunteers will work closely with our Chaplain to assist with our bereavement support group, provide bereavement materials for families and basically provide continuity for the family after the patient’s death. Office volunteers are needed for clerical and secretarial support to the Palliative Care program and our Patient Care Volunteers are at the bedside to give comfort and support to patients and their families who are receiving Palliative Care. There will be extensive training for volunteers interested in joining our Palliative Care Program.

If you enjoy office work and have outstanding telephone skills, there are several departments looking for volunteers to make follow up or reminder phone calls to patients as well as keeping physicians’ offices informed of patients who are admitted or discharged.
