Apartments Proposed For Former Meriden Nursing Home

Plans call for the nursing home building to be converted into 40 apartments.

MERIDEN, CT — A developer is asking the city for permission to convert a former nursing home into 40 apartments, according to The Meriden Record-Journal. Westfield Car & Rehab, at 65 Westfield Road, has been vacant for several years.

The 5.2-acre property is an area zoned for single-family residential homes. Stephan Gashi, who owns a 15-story downtown building, is asking the City Council’s Economic Development and Zoning Committee to use the city’s adaptive reuse overlay zone to convert the building into market rate one- and two-bedroom apartments.
