Bicyclist, 15, Hospitalized After Crash With SUV: Meriden Police

A 15-year-old bicyclist was hospitalized via LifeStar after being seriously injured in a crash with an SUV, according to police.

MERIDEN, CT — A 15-year-old bicyclist was hospitalized via LifeStar after being seriously injured in a crash with a vehicle Sunday afternoon in Meriden, according to police.

Police responded around 3:15 p.m. to a report of a crash involving a car and a bicyclist on Oregon Road by Brownstone Ridge.

The preliminary investigation found that a 2017 Toyota Highlander SUV was traveling south on Oregon Rd and the juvenile riding the bicycle was traveling east on Brownstone Ridge, according to police.

Police said the Toyota Highlander and the bicyclist collided at the intersection of Oregon Road and Brownstone Ridge.

The juvenile was seriously injured and police said members of Meriden Fire Department and Hunter’s Ambulance rendered immediate medical care.

The bicyclist was taken to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford via LifeStar for more medical treatment, according to police.

Police said the driver of the Toyota is cooperating with the investigation. The three occupants of the Toyota Highlander did not require medical treatment, according to police.
