Buzzfeed Says the Best Pizza in Connecticut Is From This 'Little' Spot

MERIDEN, CT — The Little Rendezvous in Meriden has Connecticut's best pizza, according to Buzzfeed and Yelp.

Yup, that's what I said. The best pizza in Connecticut is not at Frank Pepe's or at any of the other spots recently listed by OnlyInYourState.com's survey.

It's at a spot that celebrated its 75th anniversary three years ago and still only accepts cash. The Little Rendezvous specializes in "old fashioned coal fired brick oven pizza" and doesn't serve slices, only full pies.

Buzzfeed turned to Yelp and asked the site for the most popular pizza places in each state. Yelp then came up with the list by "using an algorithm that looks at the number of reviews plus the star rating for every business on Yelp."

The Little Rendezvous topped the list in Connecticut because, as one Yelp reader put it, it's the "best place for crisp, brick-oven-style pizza around." And to be fair, the honor should not be considered a total surprise, because Connecticut Magazine said The Little Rendezvous as one of the best in the state in one of its lists.

In fact, the restaurant even touts its superiority on its own website, "Serving coal fired BRICK oven pizza, and for the past 70 years people have been coming from towns all around Connecticut to enjoy our pizza."
