Christmas Tree Collection Schedule Announced In Meriden

MERIDEN, CT — The Meriden Department of Public Works will begin curbside collection of Christmas trees on Monday, Jan. 8 for residents living east of the railroad tracks. The eastside collection will last through Friday, Jan. 19.
Beginning Monday, Jan. 22, the collection will begin for residents living west of the railroad tracks. The westside collection will last through Friday, Feb. 2. Officials ask that residents remove all decorations and lights from the tree and please do not place the tree in a plastic bag. The city won’t accept trees in plastic bags or with decorations and lights.
Residents may bring their trees to the Transfer Station located on Evansville Ave during normal business hours. The hours are: Monday from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and the first and third Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 12 noon. There is no charge for the disposal of Christmas trees. Officials also ask that all decorations and lights be removed from the tree and trees in plastic bags won’t be accepted.
