Coach Accused Of Recording Student In Bathroom: Meriden Police

The coach has been charged with voyeurism following an investigation, according to police.

MERIDEN, CT — A coach is accused of recording a student in a bathroom at Platt High School in Meriden, according to police.

An investigation was launched in January after a student reported that they saw a cell phone recording in a bathroom while they were getting prepared to change after practice, according to police.

Police said the suspect was identified as Daniel Barillaro Jr., who was a coach for Platt High School. Barillaro’s cell phone was seized and analyzed during the investigation.

No additional acts of voyeurism or victims were found on Barillaro’s phone, according to police.

Barillaro turned himself in on a warrant Tuesday and was charged with voyeurism. He was released after posting a $5,000 bond with a court date of Feb. 22.

Barillaro was placed on leave by Meriden Public Schools immediately after the allegation and didn’t have access to children, according to police.

“The Meriden Police Department would like to acknowledge the bravery of this student to come forward and report this incident,” police wrote in a news release.

Police said several details aren’t being released to help protect the victim’s identity.
