Connecticut Senators Urge Use of Meriden-Made Flu Vaccine
Flublok is made by Meriden-based Protein Sciences and could help stem a flu outbreak.

U.S. Senators Chris Murphy and Richard Blumenthal are urging the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to increase the distribution of Flublok, an approved vaccine that could help stem a H3N2 flu strain outbreak.
The CDC acknowledged that this season’s flu vaccine may not be effective against certain flu strains.
Flublok is manufactured by Protein Sciences in Meriden. It was designed to contain three times more antigen than the convention egg-grown vaccines, according to a press release. It provides a stronger immune response. There are currently about 250,000 doses of Flublok available for individuals most at risk of catching the flu.
