Consultant Recommends Meriden Build New Parking Garage Downtown

An engineering firm has made recommendations to city officials about improvements that can be done downtown.

An engineering firm has recommended that the City of Meriden build a new parking garage downtown to help solve parking woes in the area.

The $20,000 consulting fee was paid through a state grant, according to the Record-Journal.

Among other suggestions were moving non-essential police vehicles from the Hanover Street parking lot. The large presence of vehicles and lack of signs make it appear as if the lot isn’t a free municipal parking space.
