Convicted Felon Charged In Shooting In Meriden: Police

The man has been arrested five years after a targeted shooting in Meriden, according to police.

MERIDEN, CT — A convicted felon has been arrested in connection with a shooting in Meriden five years ago, according to police.

Police responded on Aug. 5, 2019 to a report of shots fired in the 100 block of Gravel Street, according to Sgt. Michael Boothroyd.

Boothroyd said responding officers found a crime scene and determined that an occupied vehicle was struck by gunfire. The vehicle’s solo occupant was not injured in the shooting, according to Boothroyd.

Investigators believed that the suspect and the target of the shooting were known to each other, Boothroyd said.

“The Meriden Police Department used several investigative techniques and resources to identify the alleged suspect in this case to be Trayquan Ford,” Boothroyd wrote in a news release.

Ford, 28, is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing firearms, according to Boothroyd.

Boothroyd said Ford is currently incarcerated on other firearms-related charges and was served with an arrest warrant for this case on Monday, Aug. 5.

Ford was charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault and criminal possession of a firearm. He was held in lieu of an additional $150,000 bond.

These relationships and modern investigative tools have allowed us to investigate violent crimes in a more robust manner. Based on these factors we are able to glean new evidence in older crimes of violence.”
