Police Search for Car Owned by Dead Man Found in Meriden Apartment: Update

The man's decomposing body was discovered Wednesday evening on East Main Street.

MERIDEN, CT — Police are searching for a car that was owned by the man whose deceased, decomposing body was discovered Wednesday in an apartment on East Main Street in Meriden.

The blue, four-door 2014 Nissan Sentra carried a Connecticut registration 642-YVE, and it is missing from the man's residence at 657 East Main St.

"Anyone seeing this vehicle is asked to contact the Meriden Police Department at (203) 630-6201," police wrote in a statement.

Police were called to the scene at about 6:30 p.m., found the man's decomposing body in the apartment and launched a homicide investigation. Additional details, such as how the body was discovered and the condition of the apartment were not disclosed.

Initially, police had some trouble identifying the man, but authorities believe they now know who he is, but have not yet released his name.

"At this time we believe that we know the identity of the victim; however, we will not be able to release that information until the identity is confirmed," Meriden police wrote in a statement. "This will be done with the assistance of the State Medical Examiner’s office. Once the identity is confirmed and a proper notification to the victim’s next of kin is made, the identity of the victim will be released."
