A short time ago a neighbor within the Capenter Avenue area had indicated that the American Flag that was damaged some time ago was not replaced. The flag pole is approximately 85 feet high and serves a dual purpose as a radio antenna.

Our Fire Department and Parks Department attempted to reach the flag components which are located at the top of the pole. Their equipment was not able to reach the 85 foot height.

I contacted representatives from Eversource Energy. Eversource personnel were extremely helpful in assisting us with our dilemma. A high tension wire crew responded yesterday and were able to install the hardware necessary on top of the flag pole. The Meriden Police Department purchased a new 10’ by 5 ‘ flag, which was raised yesterday.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Eversource for their assistance and continued partnership within our community.
