A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a motor vehicle Tuesday night in Meriden.
The accident occurred on Main Street near Center Street around 6 p.m., according to police.
Meriden resident Jack Coursey, 68, purchased a pizza from Uptown Pizza and was crossing East Main Street to return to his vehicle when he was struck by a 35-year-old Meriden resident.

Coursey succumbed to his injuries. The driver was transported to the hospital for cuts to his face that occurred when his windshield broke.
The accident is under investigation.
