Former Meriden Cop, DARE Officer Arrested on Drug Charges

A retired Meriden police officer and former DARE instructor was charged with selling drugs after an investigation.

Janice Merrigan, 50, of Cheshire was charged with sale of illegal drugs, according to the Record-Journal. O’Neal Ward, 48 of Willow Street was charged with possession and possession with intent to sell narcotics.

Ward was questioned and allegedly said that ”Janice” gave him something and that she instructed him to give the pills to someone. He was carrying cash and a prescription bottle in Merrigan’s name with 130 oxycodone pills, valued at a street price of $3,900.
