
Wallingford—Hartford HealthCare proudly recognizes the heroic efforts of the Wallingford Fire Department and Hunter’s Ambulance EMS team of Meriden for their swift and effective response to a critical emergency. In an incident where a woman experienced cardiac arrest, the quick actions and professional skills of these first responders were instrumental in saving her life. To honor their outstanding service, Hartford HealthCare presented them with the prestigious Medical Director's Challenge Coin.
“Our EMT crew was the first on scene, and they delivered a defibrillation that brought the pulse back for the patient,” says Charles Johndro, Hartford HealthCare System EMS Medical Director, “Wallingford Fire then showed up and took over, performing advanced lifesaving support to the patient, who eventually made a full recovery and was later discharged from the hospital.”
The Medical Director's Challenge Coin is an esteemed award given to individuals or teams who exhibit extraordinary skill and dedication in emergency medical situations. This recognition underscores the high standards of care and professionalism upheld by the Wallingford Fire Department and Hunter’s EMS.
