Journey to the Inn, a meaningful event

Over 60 parishioners of Our Lady Queen of angels retraced the steps of Mary and Joseph in Bethlehem.

On December 6, 2017, Our Lady Queen of Angels Church in Meriden held Las Posada, a Mexican tradition. Over 60 parishioners retraced the steps of Mary and Joseph in Bethlehem as they were refused lodging while looking for a place for the birth of Jesus.

The candlelit journey began at the St. Mary’s Campus, then traveled to St. Joseph’s Campus, and then walked to the final destination, Mt Carmel Campus. At each stop Mary and Joseph was denied “room in the Inn”. Emma Quinn and Trevor Bonfiglio from Mt Carmel Elementary School represented Mary and Joseph. At each stop the pair was denied room in the “Inn”, a reflection was read, prayers were said, and a Christmas song was sung.

Las Posada is designed to bring you into the heart of the Christmas mystery, which is the Christ Child, the eternal Son of God born of the Virgin Mary. All who attended the event experienced a deeper meaning of this joyful season.
