Longtime TV Personality Tony Terzi Leaving FOX 61 For New Role

Along with his father, former TV news anchor Al Terzi, Tony Terzi has been part of a CT TV broadcasting dynasty for more than five decades.

MERIDEN, CT — Longtime TV news personality Tony Terzi is hanging up the microphone for a position with the city of Meriden.

“After a long, rewarding career in television news and radio, I am excited to announce, as a #Meriden native, I am returning home to become the city’s Strategic Communications Specialist beginning Monday!” Terzi wrote in a post on Twitter on Wednesday night. “See you around the Silver City!”

Terzi, currently a TV news reporter with FOX 61, and his father, longtime former TV news anchor Al Terzi, have been part of a Connecticut TV broadcasting dynasty for more than five decades, according to The Laurel Connecticut.

Tony Terzi had two stints with FOX 61, first as an award-winning sports anchor and reporter from 1993 to 2005, according to his bio on the FOX 61 website. He returned to FOX 61 in 2013 as a general assignment news reporter and fill-in anchor.

“Tony’s return to FOX61 afforded him the opportunity to work with his father, Al Terzi, a FOX61 Anchor, for the first time in their extensive careers,” the bio reads. “In fact, on December 26, 2013, they became only the second father-son duo to co-anchor a newscast.”
