Man Arrested On Child Pornography Charges: Meriden Police

The man was extradited from New York back to Meriden on Tuesday and arrested on a warrant, according to police.

MERIDEN, CT — A man was arrested on a warrant Tuesday on child pornography charges in connection with an investigation in Meriden, according to police.

Kristopher Upton, 39, was apprehended by the Mount Vernon Police Warrant Squad Unit in Mount Vernon, New York on March 30, according to police. He was extradited back to Meriden on Tuesday to be formally charged, police said.

He was charged with importing child pornography and possession of child pornography. He was held in lieu of a $500,000 bond.

“In November of 2022, the Special Crimes Unit began an investigation working in partnership with The U.S. Department of Homeland Security regarding child pornography,” police wrote in a news release. “We at the Meriden Police Department believe strongly in thoroughly investigating any crimes against children. Persons purchasing child pornography is a main driving factor for the continued production of such material, which is why we work diligently with our partner agencies in an attempt to prevent further child exploitation.”
