Man Fatally Shot In ‘Road Rage’ Incident On I-691 In Meriden: State PD

The man was fatally shot in an apparent "road rage" incident after a three-vehicle crash on the highway, according to reports.

MERIDEN, CT — A Middlefield man was fatally shot on 1-691 in Meriden on Sunday night in an apparent “road rage” incident, according to multiple reports, including WFSB 3.

WFSB reports the victim was identified as 49-year-old Scott Kracke, who was taken to an area hospital with apparent gunshot wounds, and was later pronounced dead.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. when Connecticut State Police responded to an “active disturbance” near Exit 2A on I-691 East. A three-vehicle crash had occurred around the same time, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

State troopers said they learned that a shooting happened on the highway during a “road-rage-type incident,” according to WFSB.

A suspect has been identified, but state troopers haven’t released the person’s identity, according to WFSB.

The incident remains under investigation.

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched in support of Kracke's 16-year-old son. The GoFundMe has raised $19,000, as of Friday afternoon.
