Man Injured, More Than 20 Rounds Fired In Meriden Shooting

Police are investigating a Monday night drive-by shooting.

MERIDEN, CT — Police are investigating after a man was shot and more than 20 rounds were fired Monday night. Police responded to a call for multiple shots fired in the area of Lourdes Court at Andrews Street at 9:20 p.m.

Police did not find any victims on arrival. Officers investigated and found bullet holes in several vehicles as well as in numerous homes. Police said that upwards of 20 rounds were fired. No one in any of the parked cars or residents in the homes was struck by gunfire.

Later, a man in his early twenties was brought to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to his back. Police investigated and found the man had been shot in the area of Lourdes Court and Andrews street by someone driving by.

Police said it's unclear how many people were in the car and how many people fired shots.

The victim is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said in a statement: "At this time although it cannot be confirmed, we believe that this act of violence may be the result of an ongoing dispute between certain groups of young males who frequent the Meriden community."
