Man Pistol-Whipped Woman During Home Invasion: Meriden Police
The man, who was known to the victim, is accused of striking the woman in the head with a gun after demanding money from her, police said.
MERIDEN, CT — A man is accused of pistol whipping a woman in the head during a home invasion earlier this year in Meriden, according to police.
Police said the assault happened around 6:15 a.m. on Feb. 2. Responding officers found that the suspect had left the scene and the victim was bleeding from her head.
The victim told police that she was asleep in bed when she was awoken by a man she knew, who was demanding money from her, according to police.

When she told the man she didn’t have money to give, he began “striking her in the head” with a gun, police said.
Joel Joyner, 41, was identified as the suspect following an intensive investigation that involved multiple interviews and search warrants, according to police.

Joyner was arrested June 24 on a warrant and taken into custody without incident, police said. He was charged with home invasion and second-degree assault.
Joyner was held in lieu of a $300,000 bond.
