Man Sentenced In Fatal Shooting At Hotel In Meriden: Officials
The man was accused of shooting another man to death in a hotel parking lot in Meriden in 2020, according to authorities.
MERIDEN, CT — A former Meriden man has been sentenced to 65 years in prison in connection with a fatal shooting in Meriden in 2020, Acting New Haven State’s Attorney Lisa D’Angelo announced Tuesday.
Trevor Outlaw, 35, was found guilty by a jury in February on charges of murder, carrying a pistol without a permit and criminal possession of a firearm, according to D’Angelo.
D’Angelo said Outlaw’s sentence stems from the shooting death of a rival gang member, 24-year-old Giovanni Rodriguez, that happened in the early morning hours of June 21, 2020, in the parking lot of the Comfort Inn & Suites hotel at 900 East Main Street, Meriden.

“Prosecutors introduced evidence during the February trial that Outlaw and an accomplice were alerted to Rodriguez’s presence at the hotel by an associate,” officials wrote in a news release. “Evidence established that Outlaw, the passenger in a slow rolling car, opened fire on Rodriguez with a .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun as Rodriguez removed items from his car in the hotel parking lot. Mortally wounded by the gunfire, Rodriguez attempted to flee on foot, ultimately collapsing near the hotel entrance door. Prosecutors alleged an ongoing conflict between the two rival gangs provided the motive for the killing.”
Outlaw’s criminal arrest record includes multiple felony convictions for assault, robbery, burglary, larceny, failure to appear, and possession of narcotics with intent to sell, according to D’Angelo.
