Man Sentenced In Killing Of Meriden Woman: Officials

The woman was reported missing and the remains of her body were found three days later, according to authorities.

MERIDEN, CT — A man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the 2019 murder of Perrie Mason in Meriden, New Haven State’s Attorney John P. Doyle Jr. announced Monday.

Jason Watson, 41, of Meriden, pleaded guilty Nov. 27 to a charge of murder in connection with the killing.

Mason was reported missing on August 18, 2019, and investigators found the remains of her charred body three days later in the area of Bay State Textiles in Waterbury, where Watson had been employed, according to officials.

Watson was Mason's ex-fiancé. He was imprisoned for strangulation, assault, and unlawful restraint connected with an incident that occurred days before Mason disappeared, WTNH News 8 previously reported.

Police believe Watson assaulted Mason two days after the couple broke up, when Watson is accused of choking Mason until she blacked out.

The two had been communicating about the separation on Aug. 18. Then that night, Mason made two calls to 911, according to WTNH. Watson called police the next day to report that Mason was missing.

Doyle wishes to “extend his condolences to the family of Ms. Mason and his gratitude to the Meriden Police Department, the Connecticut State Police and the Waterbury Police Department for their investigative efforts in this case,” according to a news release.
